U.S. Chamber of Commerce Honors Wounded Warrior Project for Meeting Veteran Employment Needs
Nov. 25, 2019 -- Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) received the Wounded Veteran and Military Caregiver Employment Award at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s 9th Annual Lee Anderson Hiring Our Heroes Awards Gala in Washington, DC.
The award is presented to an organization that demonstrates leadership in addressing the unique challenges and demands for wounded warriors, spouses, and caregivers in their search for meaningful employment.
“We are pleased to present this award to Wounded Warrior Project for their leadership in assisting wounded service members and their families successfully establish careers and transition to civilian life as well as educating employers on best practices in hiring and retaining this pipeline of top talent,” said Eric Eversole, vice president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and president of Hiring Our Heroes. “Wounded Warrior Project has exemplified commitment through various initiatives such as its career counseling program, Warriors to Work, where more than 15,000 wounded veterans and family support members have been placed in meaningful employment.”
Other finalists for the award included Amazon, AARP®, and Hilton. Previous winners include Deloitte, Ryder System, Inc., and Lockheed Martin Corporation.

Offered free to warriors and family support members, WWP's career counseling program empowers them to:
- translate military experience into a civilian resume,
- develop career skills,
- prepare for job interviews,
- get connected at job fairs and networking events,
- and facilitate relationships with potential employers.
WWP has collaborated with several local and national organizations in this mission, understanding that no one group can fully meet veterans’ needs.
