Charity Golf Tournament Supports Wounded Warrior Project

URBANA, Ill., July 7, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) relies on the support of donors, including individual supporters, corporate partners, and even groups of students. Their generosity allows WWP to provide free, life-changing programs and services to injured veterans, their caregivers, and family members. Recently, Flightstar, which maintains aircraft frames, organized a charity golf tournament to support WWP.

Recently, Flightstar organized a charity golf tournament to support Wounded Warrior Project.

"Many of our employees, their family members, or their friends have served in the military," said Amy Bumgarner, Flightstar service department business manager. "This connection to our service members was a large part of choosing a cause to receive support through our annual golf outing. We love the work Wounded Warrior Project does."

The golf scramble brought together 56 golfers who played on teams of four. In addition to the main golf event, players purchased chances to chip into a small raft located in a pond, for the opportunity to win golf clubs.

"The event was honestly a big success, and we were proud of how it went," Amy said. "Most people I've met know someone who has or currently is serving. And we love having the opportunity to bring together folks who are willing to give back to help support others who need assistance. The generosity of the people in the local community was really wonderful to see."

Generous donors allow WWP to serve warriors through programs that assist them with mental health, physical health and wellness, career and benefits counseling, connecting warriors with one another and their communities, and long-term care for the most seriously wounded. Warriors are empowered to live life on their terms, mentor fellow veterans and service members, and embody the WWP logo by carrying one another along a path toward recovery.
