Wounded Warrior Project Livestreaming Event Raises Record Amount for Veterans

Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) recently capped off its third annual Warrior Week with a record number of donations and participants from across the country.

Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) recently capped off its third annual Warrior Week with a record number of donations and participants from across the country.

Through WWP’s Stream to Serve™ platform, the livestreaming charity event raised about $231,000, which is a 70% increase in funds raised compared to last year’s event. The funds will support WWP’s free, life-changing services and programs for wounded veterans and their families.

In total, 191 streamers came together to try their hand at everything from eating spicy chicken wings to playing video games, all to support warriors and their families.

“The military is something that has always been a part of my family,” said WWP streamer Snugibun. “When creating a community on Twitch, your military family slowly finds you. Wounded Warrior Project’s emphasis on helping our veterans and their families is why our community will always lift them up."

Warrior Week included a series of livestreams, one of which was a Dungeons and Dragons event, plus additional opportunities to connect streamers to WWP’s mission.

Sponsors for Warrior Week included SteelSeries, which donated 50 headphones to the WWP Talk team, Techni Sport, which donated 20 custom gaming chairs, and Twitch, which donated $50,000 to WWP at the end of the event.

Twitch, which is also a Warrior Week partner, featured WWP and Warrior Week streamers on the website’s front page, greatly increasing the number of eyes on the organization. At its peak, there were more than 186,000 total views on WWP’s stream in a single day.

“The 2022 Warrior Week provided another great opportunity for our amazing streamers to join us in demonstrating their commitment to helping wounded veterans and their families,” said Jackie Green, livestream fundraising manager for WWP. “Thanks to tremendous support from them, our sponsors, and others, we were not only able to raise critical funds, but also bring WWP’s message to people across the world.”
