WWP Talk Director
Sonal Patel, Ph.D. serves Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) as director of the WWP Talk program, a telephonic emotional support program for warriors, family members, and caregivers. In this position, Sonal develops and executes the program’s strategy and oversees the team focused on program delivery with participants managing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), depression, anxiety, and other combat stress.
Before joining WWP in 2020, Sonal worked for more than 13 years in the Michigan Department of Corrections. She served in several capacities, including acting warden; state deputy warden; programs manager for Michigan’s Office of Offender Reentry/Program Development Unit; and psychologist. Sonal has also worked as a psychologist in private practice. Her subject matter expertise is in high-risk mental health populations, trauma, and evidence-based program development and implementation.
Sonal earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Michigan State University. She went on to earn a master’s degree and a doctorate in clinical psychology, both from the University of Detroit Mercy.
