WWP Talk Director
Sonal Patel, Ph.D. serves Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) as director of the WWP Talk program, a telephonic emotional support program for warriors, family members, and caregivers. In this role, Sonal leads strategic development and oversees a dedicated team delivering care to participants managing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), depression, anxiety, and other combat-related stress conditions.
Prior to joining WWP in 2020, Sonal spent over 13 years with the Michigan Department of Corrections, where she held multiple leadership and clinical roles, including Acting Warden, State Deputy Warden, Programs Manager for the Office of Offender Reentry/Program Development Unit, and psychologist. Sonal has also worked as a psychologist in private practice. Her subject matter expertise is in trauma, high-risk mental health populations, and evidence-based program design and implementation.
Sonal received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Michigan State University and subsequently earned both her master’s and doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Detroit Mercy.
