Myths Busted: Registering With Wounded Warrior Project
The needs of post-9/11 service members and veterans are great and growing. This has led to more people registering with Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP). In fact, in 2025, an average of 94 warriors and family support members registered with WWP each day.
Have you ever wondered if you or a loved one is eligible to register for WWP's no-cost programs and services? Or have you ever felt confused about the registration process? It’s time we address these misunderstandings and debunk the myths and misconceptions.
Who can register with WWP?
The WWP Resource Center can answer questions about programs and assist with registration when you're ready.
If you’re a post-9/11 veteran, active-duty service member, or are transitioning out of service, you are eligible to register with WWP. You do not need to have already been discharged or have a VA rating.
WWP also knows warriors aren’t the only ones who face challenges during and after service. We understand the importance of strong support systems, and we’re here to serve and support veterans’ families, caregivers, and other support members, too.
What will I need to register?
Most warriors will be able to choose instant verification through their ID.me or Login.gov account. This will verify eligibility through service dates, deployment history, and VA disability rating.
- A VA disability rating is not required
- Deployment or combat history is not required
You can also upload the needed documents manually.
What if I didn’t have an honorable discharge?
WWP reviews every registration individually and recognizes that each situation is unique. If you have a general under honorable or other than honorable discharge, you may still be eligible to register, but will not qualify for the instant verification process. If you have questions about your eligibility, call the WWP Resource Center at 888.997.2586.
After registering with WWP, you’re not a member – you’re an alumnus, a valued part of a community that’s been where you’ve been and understands what you need.
How do I register?

I’m working on my registration, but I still have questions.
