Wounded Warrior Project Renews Support for Organization Empowering Military Kids

WASHINGTON, Sept. 19, 2019 /PRNewswire/ --  Wounded Warrior Project^® (WWP) renewed its support of Our Military Kids, an organization that empowers military kids by funding sports, arts, and other enrichment activities when their parents are deployed overseas with the National Guard or Reserves, or recovering from severe injuries sustained in a post-9/11 overseas mission. These extracurricular activities help military children cope with stress and anxiety, as well as foster a sense of self-confidence.

This $75,000 grant provides academic tutoring, sports programs, and other empowering activities. 

"Our Military Kids gives military children a chance to be kids again: having fun, learning, and enjoying after-school activities," said WWP CEO Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Mike Linnington. "Children of wounded veterans experience unique challenges when tragic circumstances require them to assume the role of caregiver to a recovering parent. We're proud to partner with Our Military Kids to help these kids cope and bond with others experiencing the same challenges."
