Miami Dolphins to Host Wounded Veterans

Dolphins Providing VIP Treatment for South Florida Injured Veterans

DAVIE, Fla. (August 10, 2015) – The Miami Dolphins and Bank of America are providing the VIP treatment for about 30 injured veterans at training camp Monday, August 10. The group is visiting the Dolphins’ Davie facility while being treated for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms at the Veterans Affairs (VA) clinic in Miami.

Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) is helping make the trip possible as part of its mission to honor and empower Wounded Warriors. Engagement is a key factor in helping veterans cope with and heal from PTSD.

The WWP Engagement Pillar – one of four program pillars uniquely structured to nurture a warrior’s mind and body, and encourage economic empowerment and engagement - ensures wounded veterans stay connected with one another, and in turn, help aid and assist one another. The pillar includes the Alumni Program, which connects wounded veterans with one another through sporting events, gatherings, and networking; creating support through shared experiences. It is one of 20 life-saving programs provided free of charge to warriors, caregivers, and families.

An important note, all of the injured veterans attending Monday’s training camp practice are currently in treatment for PTSD at the VA clinic. We ask that you do not approach these service members with cameras, lights, or questions. WWP will have an Outreach Coordinator on-site to provide quotes or soundbites, if needed.

WWP is one of the NFL’s non-profit partners. Through the partnership, the NFL donates money from each point scored to WWP and two other registered charities. During the 2014-2015 season, the NFL donated more than $400,000 between the three charities.
