RENE CARBONE BARDORF
SENIOR VP OF GOVERNMENT AND COMMUNITY AFFAIRS
René Carbone Bardorf joined Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) in 2017 to lead our Government and Community Relations team in Washington, DC, where she collaborates closely with numerous federal agencies, including Congress, the White House, Department of Defense, and Department of Veterans Affairs. Working with these national leaders and connecting them with WWP’s program leadership, René and her team enhance the impact of the WWP programs and investments that empower the wounded veterans we serve.
Before joining WWP, she served as the Chief Communications Officer for the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA), leading the organization's corporate relations, community outreach, and communications strategy.
René previously held the appointed position of Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs, where she served as a principal advisor to the Secretary of Defense on matters related to public affairs and community outreach. Through policy change and proactive relationship cultivation across industry sectors, she established an unprecedented level of collaboration and transparency to support both the department's initiatives and the needs of the nation's all-volunteer force.
René earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and marketing management from Salve Regina University and completed certificate programs in nonprofit strategic management and nonprofit strategic framework from Harvard University Kennedy School of Government, respectively.
